Led by the Office on Women’s Health, National Women’s Health Week (May 11-17, 2014) encourages women to make their health a priority! This includes fitness, nutrition, mental and emotional health, and overall wellness
At Capital Women’s Care, we encourage women to make their health a priority. Regular gynecological exams are an important part of women’s health. This includes the pelvic exam to assess the health of your reproductive organs, the Pap test to identify abnormal cells in the cervix, and a breast exam. Your physician will also discuss your overall health, so be open about your lifestyle and don’t be afraid to share any questions or concerns.
Family history plays an important role in women’s health. Family history can identify those with a higher risk of developing disorders and diseases, including certain type of gynecologic cancers. It’s worth gathering as much medical information as possible about your parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles (such as major medical issues, cause of death, and age of disease and/or death).
