About Tamara E. Coates, MD
As a trusted board-certified OB/GYN, Tamara Coates, MD, FACOG is known for offering comprehensive health care for women of all ages. She treats patients at Capital Women’s Care in Laurel and Silver Spring, Maryland and is an Associate Clinical Professor of OB/GYN for George Washington Medical School.
Dr. Coates earned her medical degree from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Rutgers University in New Jersey. She went on to complete a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Franklin Square Hospital Center in Baltimore, and Gyn oncology portion of her residency training completed and John’s Hopkins University Center.
Not only is Dr. Coates a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, she’s also board certified through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a former Chairman of the Dept of Ob/Gyn at Laurel Regional Hospital Center.
While Dr. Coates can care for a realm of women’s health conditions, she has special interests in early testing for female fertility, normal and high-risk pregnancy care, menopause management, and minimally invasive vaginal and laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Coates strives to offer holistic preventive gynecologic care, approaching and treating each patient as a whole person, rather than focusing on algorithms and predetermined non patient-centered care.
She can help patients find effective individualized solutions for chronic conditions, including uterine fibroids, heavy menstrual bleeding, endometriosis and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Dr. Coates is currently accepting new patients and welcomes them to the practice.
