About Suzanne A. Abdelazim, MD
Dr. Abdelazim earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland College Park, Maryland, and graduated on the Dean’s list. She earned her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia.
Dr. Abdelazim received an Intramural Research Training Award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. She participated in molecular and clinical research at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) as well as the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). She also conducted clinical gynecologic research in a clinical trial and successfully published four articles in biodefense and gynecologic and reproductive health.
During her time in residency, Dr. Abdelazim was elected Chief Resident for medical students, family medicine, and emergency medicine residents. After eight years of medical training, Dr. Abdelazim is excited to return home to Columbia, MD, where she was born and raised, to serve her community at Capital Women’s Care Howard County.
Dr. Abdelazim is robotically certified using the latest Da Vinci Xi Robot model to treat a variety of gynecological conditions in a minimally invasive surgical fashion. This is an effective alternative to open surgery and laparoscopy. Conditions that can be treated robotically include (but not limited to): uterine fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, and chronic pelvic pain. Surgeries to treat these conditions include: hysterectomy, myomectomy, ablation of endometriosis, ovarian cystectomy, oophorectomy, and pelvic organ prolapse.
Dr. Abdelazim remains passionate about all aspects of women’s health. She equally loves the joy of delivering babies and caring for women throughout their lives giving her the opportunity to develop long-lasting relationships with her patients. Dr. Abdelazim finds it important to spend time getting to know each woman in her practice.
Dr. Abdelazim is fluent in both English and Arabic. She enjoys cooking, traveling, history, learning new cultures, languages, and religions. She enjoys spending time with family and friends
Dr. Abdelazim is married to a successful computer engineer and is the proud mother of a lovely daughter.
