About Lorena Dujmusic, MGCS, LCGC

Lorena received her Bachelor of Science degree in Quantitative Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Master of Genetic Counselor Studies degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Genetic Counseling and a licensed genetic counselor in the states of Virginia and Maryland.

She has previously worked on a large, multi-institutional clinical research study on achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism. In that role, she had the fortunate opportunity of collaborating with families in a clinical setting and at national and regional conferences for the skeletal dysplasia community. Prior to becoming a genetic counselor, she worked one-on-one with a child with autism, implementing therapeutic interventions and educational techniques suited to the child’s development and learning style.

In her current role, she is passionate about providing prenatal and preconception genetic counseling care that is sensitive to the unique needs of each patient and appreciates the complex depth of every individual’s story. Her goal is to provide her patients at Greater Washington Maternal-Fetal Medicine & Genetics with the information, resources, and support they need to make decisions that are the best fit for them. In addition to her role as a genetic counselor, she enjoys being on stage in performing arts productions in her community.
