About Kathryn Wilkinson O’Brien, MD

Dr. Kathryn Wilkinson O’Brien was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in suburban Virginia. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia, where she majored in chemistry and history. She attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia and received the Dr. Fred Mecklenburg Award for excellence in obstetrics and gynecology, an award given for outstanding achievement in women’s health care, research and community service. She did her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology through George Washington University at the George Washington University Hospital, Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia and Holy Cross Hospital in Maryland. During her residency, she provided care to women at the Hospitalito Atitlán in Guatemala. She enjoys spending time with her children and reading when not at work.
