About Diane Barrett, MD
Born and raised in Southern California, Dr. Barrett received her BA in Biology from Claremont McKenna College. She moved to the DC area and earned her MD from the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences, then moved to Richmond to complete her Ob-Gyn residency at what is now the VCU School of Medicine, formerly the Medical College of Virginia. Finishing residency in 2002, Dr. Barrett returned to Northern VA, where she was in one private practice group for 20 years. During this time she served as Reston Hospital’s Vice Chairman of the Department of Ob-Gyn from 2009-2015, Chairman of the Department from 2015-2020, and Vice President of the Medical Staff in 2021-2022. As her partner planned retirement in 2022, Dr. Barrett was referred by a mutual friend to the Capital Women’s Care Loudoun group. Meeting this group of warm, friendly, like-minded doctors, Dr. Barrett knew she had found her new home. Dr. Barrett feels it is an honor to take care of women during some of the most important times of their lives, and to be able to continue to care for them through life’s different stages. She enjoys getting to know her patients, and helping them figure out how to find a healthy approach to pregnancy and life that works for them.
